Thank you for the very helpful message and the warm welcome! 🙂 I have actually been here for 11 years as a faculty member before now taking the dive into admin, so I know exactly what I signed up for with Kyle... 🙂 which is to say that things would run noticeably worse without Kyle, and in some cases certain things wouldn't run at all!

Since the situation you describe re: form approvers sounds unexpectedly excellent, perhaps Kyle and I could both be form approvers and I will then make sure our faculty advisors know that this is the case. Many thanks for your help!

Thank you so much for your speedy response and for asking excellent questions!

So, believe it or not, there actually is NOT a form to fill out to declare your departmental form approvers (a small miracle). All I need is an email from the Department Chair listing the official form approvers for Music. In this case, Tyler you can just respond to this email with the approvers listed so I can have that for my records. Kyle is more than welcome to be a form approver if that’s what you’d like.

Also, the form approvers can approve forms separately from each other. For example, a form submitted to Kyle would not also need to be viewed/approved by Tyler and vice versa. The person the advisor (or whoever submits the form) lists on the form is the one who will need to approve. If that’s something you wish to communicate to your advisors that would be great. Let me know if you would like examples about that or if you have additional questions at all. I’m always happy to help, and I appreciate you both being open to changes.

I will chime in to add my interest to the same questions Kyle asked, if it's possible to have Kyle as an approver as well as me, if necessary? If both of us are listed does that mean we both have to sign everything, either of us can sign, or whether there would then be a mechanism to decide who signs in specific cases?

Hi Rachel,

Well, you caught me, trying to approve sub/waivers on my own.

Tyler Wottrich is our new department chair (Hi Tyler!), and I think we've agreed that I'll be an eForm approver for substitutions/waivers moving forward. And Tyler should be an approver also, so I'm not approving my own requests. What do we need to do to make this official and stay in the good graces of Registration and Records? I'm sure there's a form to fill out (but then who will approve it? who approves the approvers?)

I wanted to reach out and follow up about whether or not a new Department Chair has been appointed, and whether or not either (or both of you) have been selected to be eForm (substitution, waiver, etc.) approvers going forward.
